Sous Chef

Eva’s Little Kitchen, a beloved bakery, café, and catering company, is seeking a skilled and passionate Sous Chef to support our savory culinary operations. Working under the supervision of the Executive Chef, you will play a key role in menu development, kitchen management, and food production, ensuring that our customers enjoy high-quality, flavorful dishes made with care and precision. This position requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a deep appreciation for fresh, high-quality ingredients.

Responsibilities:

Menu Development:

  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to create and update menus seasonally.
  • Develop new and exciting sandwiches, salads, and prepared foods that align with Eva’s Little Kitchen’s vision.
  • Ensure a well-balanced selection of offerings that complement our bakery and café menu.

Production and Execution:

  • Oversee the daily preparation and execution of savory foods, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Maintain high standards of flavor, texture, and presentation in all dishes.
  • Monitor inventory levels and manage kitchen resources efficiently to minimize waste.

Staff Management and Training:

  • Lead and mentor kitchen staff, providing training, guidance, and motivation.
  • Delegate tasks effectively to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and food handling procedures
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and oversee equipment maintenance
  • Optimize workflow to improve efficiency and reduce waste.

Quality Control:

  • Conduct regular tastings to ensure all dishes meet established quality standards.
  • Monitor production processes and address any quality issues promptly.
  • Implement corrective measures as needed to uphold consistency and excellence.

Collaboration with Pastry Team & Catering:

  • Work closely with the Executive Pastry Chef and other kitchen management to maintain a cohesive culinary operation.
  • Assist in the development of seasonal savory pastry and catering menu items.

Requirements:

  • A minimum 2-4 years of professional kitchen experience in a leadership role, required.
  • A culinary degree or equivalent certification is preferred but not required.
  • Strong proficiency in a range of cooking techniques, including roasting, braising, sautéing, and sauce-making.
  • Passion for the culinary arts and enthusiasm for experimenting with new flavors and techniques.
  • Knowledge of ingredient sourcing and flavor development
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining top-quality standards.
  • Ability to adapt to changing menu requirements, customer preferences, and industry trends.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make quick decisions under pressure.

  • Must be available to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

Prep Cook/Sandwich Maker

What you will do:

As a member of the savory team, sandwich makers and prep cooks will execute all tasks related to prepping, cooking, assembling, portioning, and packaging savory menu items while adhering to Eva's Little Kitchen's vision, culture, and team values.

The ideal Sandwich Maker/Prep Cook has experience working with high-volume production. We are willing to train passionate candidates, who are eager, curious, and excited by innovation, challenge, and an evolving menu. Our ideal candidate is self-driven, motivated, reliable, and talented in the kitchen.

Responsibilities and Qualifications:

  • 1-2+ years commercial kitchen experience
  • Ability to work alone and follow prep list
  • Follow recipes and cook dishes to company standards
  • Attention to product quality from start to finish
  • Assemble breakfast and lunch sandwiches, catering orders
  • Experience with scaled food production is a plus
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong work ethic and enthusiastic attitude

Bakery Counter Staff

What you will do:

As a Front of House Counter Staff member, you will play a pivotal role in creating a positive and hospitable customer experience. Your main responsibility will be to ensure efficient and effective counter service, handle transactions, and interact clearly with customers in a friendly and courteous manner.

Eva’s Little Kitchen offers a comfortable work environment and extensive training in each position. Employees will gain valuable service experience working at the front line of a cafe environment while acting as an ambassador for our company, and providing a high level of hospitality to customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers with a warm and welcoming demeanor as they enter the bakery/cafe.
  • Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, providing recommendations and describing menu items as needed.
  • Prepare and serve coffee, tea, and other beverages to the highest quality standards.
  • Assist with preparing and serving bakery items, such as pastries, sandwiches, and desserts.
  • Handle cash and electronic transactions securely and accurately using our point-of-sale system.
  • Maintain a clean and organized counter area, ensuring a visually appealing and sanitary environment.
  • Regularly restock items at the counter and bakery display to ensure products are always available.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, address concerns, and resolve complaints in a professional manner.
  • Uphold company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with other team members to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Participate in periodic team meetings and training sessions to enhance product knowledge and customer service skills.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role or barista experience is preferred, but not mandatory. Willingness to learn and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service is essential.
  • A customer-oriented and friendly attitude with the ability to engage and connect with customers effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently and maintain an orderly work area.
  • Attention to detail in processing orders, handling transactions, and ensuring accurate inventory management.
  • A commitment to cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety standards.
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and adjust to changing demands.
  • Availability to arrive to work as early as 7AM
  • Availabilty to work on weekends, holidays, and occasional evening shifts.
  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • We ask that you have availability for 3-4 shifts a week. We are looking for part-time availability, 25-30 hours per week.
  • Applicants must be enthusiastic, hard-working, possess strong guest service skills, eager to learn, and be able to work in a professional kitchen environment.
  • We are seeking self-motivated, fast-learning employees who work well in a fun, positive, fast-paced team environment with possibilities for advancement.
  • Previous cafe counter staff, barista, or restaurant front-of-the-house experience is helpful, but not mandatory.
